Cardiac Science Powerheart AED G5 Defibrillation Pads - Adult (1)

These are Intellisense adult defibrillation pads made for the Cardiac Science Powerheart G5 and no other AED. The electrodes are pre-gelled, self-adhesive and single-use, and they carry embedded circuitry that talks to the G5 directly. Through Cardiac Science's Rescue Ready design the pads report their presence, functionality, patient type, energy and CPR protocol, and expiry back to the unit, which is what keeps the AED's readiness indicator honest.

The set is non-polarised, so either pad goes to either position on the chest. That removes one decision at the exact moment a bystander does not want to be making decisions, when someone has collapsed and the AED has come out. The adult set is for patients older than 8 years or heavier than 25kg; smaller patients need the paediatric G5 pad set instead.

Usage

The pads clip into the Powerheart G5 and are designed to stay stored inside the unit, preconnected, so the AED reads them as present and in date. In use, the electrodes are peeled and pressed onto bare skin as the G5's voice and visual prompts direct, and the unit handles the rest. Because the set is non-polarised, placement order does not matter. They are single-use: once a set has been deployed, or once the printed expiry has passed, fit a fresh set so the AED returns to a ready state.

Care and storage

Keep the pads sealed and stored inside the G5 within the temperature range printed on the pack. Check the AED's readiness indicator and the pad expiry date on a regular schedule, and replace the set after any deployment or once it reaches its use-by date. A pad set left past expiry is the most common reason a cabinet AED shows as not ready.
