This is the firm, non-stretch strapping tape a trainer reaches for to lock down an ankle, thumb or wrist, and it tears clean by hand so you set the anchor without stopping for scissors. It comes in four widths from 13mm to 50mm, each roll 13.7m long, in the beige flesh colour trainers know.

Rigid tape is non-stretch by design. It holds firm where you put it and limits movement at the end of a joint's range, which is the job elastic and kinesiology tape do not do. That firm hold is why it sits on the training-room bench as the standard strapping tape.

The four widths cover the joints you strap most. The narrow 13mm and 25mm rolls suit thumbs, fingers and wrists, 38mm suits ankles and knees, and 50mm handles the largest areas, like the knee, thigh and shoulder. For how to apply it on a given joint, the taping guides walk it through step by step.

Straptor tape is made for grassroots clubs strapping a squad every week, so each width comes as single rolls and in bulk cartons, with tubes on the 25, 38 and 50mm rolls. It's stocked next to the pre-wrap that goes under it, dispatched Australia-wide and available at the East Bendigo walk-in, with phone advice from people who actually strap tape. Straptor is Australian owned and run.

Usage

Apply to clean, dry skin, free of sweat, oils or lotion so the adhesive grips. Many trainers run a layer of pre-wrap over the skin first to protect it and make removal easier. Set your anchors without tension on the skin, then work the support strips over them. Tear each strip by hand at the serrated edge and smooth it down as you go.

Care and storage

Store the rolls somewhere cool and dry and keep them out of direct sun so the adhesive stays true. Reseal cartons and tubes between sessions to keep the rolls clean.

Common questions

Which width should I choose? The 13mm and 25mm rolls suit thumbs, fingers and wrists, 38mm suits ankles and knees, and 50mm handles the largest joints. Plenty of clubs keep two or three widths on the bench.

Does it tear by hand? Yes. The serrated edge and cut ends let you tear a strip and shape it one-handed, so you don't need scissors mid-strap.

Rigid or elastic tape, what's the difference? Rigid tape does not stretch, so it holds firm and limits movement at the end of a joint's range. Elastic adhesive bandage and kinesiology tape stretch and are used differently. See the tape range for the full line-up.

What about sensitive skin? Run pre-wrap under the tape to cut direct skin contact, prep the skin clean and dry, and remove the tape slowly in the direction of hair growth. If you want the material detail before you buy, give us a call.

For the full range and specs, see the rigid strapping tape we make, and shop every width in our tape range. New to strapping a joint? Start with ankle strapping, step by step, or thumb support taping.

Happy customer- No allergic reaction

My daughter has used many different brands of strapping tape, and seems to have an allergic reaction causing blistering and sore/swelling and redness when using strapping tape on her ankle for netball. It was amazing to give Straptor a go and so far she has had no reactions which is fantastic! Will def be purchasing again.
