Kim Hando
Founder, Australian First Aid Distributions
Formerly Registered Nurse (Division 1)
Kim is the founder of Australian First Aid Distributions, the family business that owns and runs Straptor. She spent more than 30 years in nursing, much of it in operating theatre and acute care, before moving fully into running the business that now backs a group of Australian-owned health and sport brands.
She trained as a Division 1 registered nurse through Australia's hospital-based program, the pathway that came before university degrees were the entry route. It combined heavy theory with thousands of supervised hours on the ward, and it set the standard she still applies to everything AFAD supplies, Straptor's tape range included.
Now retired from clinical practice, Kim does not write taping technique. Her contribution to Straptor is the founder's view: why AFAD backed Straptor as its own brand, what clubs and trainers actually asked for, and the standards that decide how each Straptor product is chosen, tested and supplied.
Her writing for Straptor covers brand provenance, supply standards, and the story of how Straptor came to be.
