A family business in East Bendigo

Straptor is run by Australian First Aid Distributions, a family business at 205 Murphy Street in East Bendigo, Victoria. Kim Hando founded it after more than thirty years in nursing, much of that in operating theatre and acute care, and the business still runs out of that building today.

Straptor is Australian owned. The people who answer the phone are the people who pick the stock, pack the cartons and serve the counter. That is not a slogan, it is just how a business this size works, and it is the reason a club can ring on a Thursday and get a straight answer about what will be on the truck.

Clubs told us the tape cost too much

Before Straptor existed we sold other brands’ tape, and sporting clubs bought it from us by the carton. The same thing came back every season. The tape did the job, the price did not, and a club running four grades through a winter gets through more rigid tape than most people expect.

So we put our own name on it. Straptor started as a line for the clubs already buying from us, and it grew into the range we sell today, direct, over the counter, and through partners around the country.

Every grade, not just the top one

Straptor is on the bench at under-12 netball and at senior football, and it is the same tape either way. Support, grip and adhesion have to hold for a full game, on real bodies, in real weather.

    Picked and packed here

Counter sales and club pickups come off our own racking in East Bendigo. When a club needs a carton before Saturday, someone here is the reason it gets there.

  • Straptor cohesive bandage rolls in tan and white, grouped on a plain background

The whole kit, not one hero product

Cohesive bandage is the roll nobody photographs and every club runs out of. We stock it the way we stock rigid, kinesiology, underwrap, scissors and spray. One order, one invoice, one place to ring when something is short.

The counter is open

If you are in Bendigo you can walk into 205 Murphy Street and buy tape over the counter. Bring the wrist, ankle or thumb you are trying to strap and someone will show you how it sits before you pay for it. We are open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. If you would rather ask first, the number is 03 5443 2239.

Where to next

Clubs buy differently to individuals, and clinics differently again, so there is a page for each.
