A dressing on a fingertip, over a knee, or around a head won't stay put under a flat strip of tape. A tubular net bandage answers that: you stretch a length of open-weave net over the dressing and it grips the shape of the body part without any adhesive on the skin. This one comes in nine sizes, from a 0.8cm finger size up to a 10.4cm chest size.

The net is made from nylon and elastodiene, so it stretches to the body part and holds a dressing where a curved or bony spot defeats flat tape. It's light, and the open weave lets air reach the skin underneath. There's no adhesive, so it doesn't pull at the skin or leave residue when it comes off, and the knot-free construction means there's no bulky join pressing in.

Pick the size by body part rather than guesswork. Size 0 suits fingers and toes, the mid sizes cover hands, feet, arms, legs, knees and heads, and the larger sizes fit an adult chest. Each pack holds one metre of net in a single size, so match the size to the job before you order. Finger and toe applicators make the net easier to load and are sold separately, so a pack on its own does not include one.

Usage

Cut a length of net a little longer than the area you're covering. Stretch it over the dressing and let it settle so it grips the shape underneath. For fingers and toes, an applicator (sold separately) makes it easier to load and slide the net on. There's no adhesive, so it lifts off cleanly when you're done.

Common questions

Does it stick to the skin? No, there's no adhesive. The net stretches to grip the shape of the body part and holds the dressing by tension, not glue.
