After a long run, this ball is built for one job: rolling out a tight calf against the floor. It is a firm 10cm ball covered in cone-shaped nodules, small enough to sit under a foot, drop into a training bag, or press against a wall to work into a knot between sessions.

The textured surface is what does the work. The raised nodules concentrate pressure into a smaller area than a flat foam roller, so you can sit on one tight spot: the arch of a foot, a calf, a glute, the muscle across the top of a shoulder. Use it on the floor, against a wall, or in the hand, and let your own body weight set how hard it presses.

At 10cm across and around 40 grams, it packs into a kit bag without taking up room, so it moves between home, work, and the club. It suits anyone who trains and wants a simple self-massage tool on hand: runners, footballers, netballers, and trainers kitting out a bench.

Buy it through Straptor and it sits next to the recovery gear and the tape we sell, dispatched nationally and stocked at the East Bendigo walk-in, with phone advice from people who use this gear.

Usage

Place the ball under a foot, calf or glute, or hold it against a wall behind a shoulder or back muscle. Roll it slowly and let your body weight decide the pressure, easing off over anything tender. A few minutes on each area is plenty; it is a between-sessions tool, not a replacement for guided rehab.

Care and storage

Wipe it clean with a damp cloth and a little mild soap, and let it dry before it goes back in the bag. Keep it out of prolonged direct heat.

Common questions

What is it used for? Self-massage: rolling out tight muscles and working into knots after training or a long day on your feet.

How big is it? 10cm across, about the size of a large orange, so it fits underfoot or in one hand.

Is it firm or soft? Firm, with raised nodules, so the pressure is more concentrated than a smooth ball or a foam roller.

For the wider options, the recovery and rehab range is the place to start, and the ice and heat packs sit alongside a massage ball in a post-session recovery kit.
