This is the lightest medium in the Premax massage range, a lotion that spreads thin and glides further than the creams, so a therapist covers a back or a pair of legs from less product. It's unscented and comes in a 1 litre pump bottle built for a busy table.

Premax Massage Lotion is the light end of the range, made for long, flowing strokes over a large area. Its key ingredients include sweet almond oil, shea butter, glycerin and water, and it's unscented, which suits therapists and clients who would rather work without a fragrance in the room. The consistency is where it earns its place: it spreads thin and holds its glide, so you reach for less lotion across a full treatment.

It works as an alternative to a massage oil. Oils can go on heavy and leave skin sticky by the end of a session, whereas this wipes off cleaner with a towel and leaves the client feeling fresh, not coated. If you want more grip and resistance for deep-tissue or sports work, that is where the Premax creams sit; the lotion is the one to reach for when you want length and glide instead.

It's used by massage therapists, physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors, sports trainers and beauty therapists, and it works just as well at home. The 1 litre pump is the economical size for anyone getting through a bottle regularly.

Straptor is Australian owned and run, with the massage range stocked next to the strapping tape and recovery gear a clinic or club works through in a season. Orders dispatch nationally and the range is on the shelf at the East Bendigo walk-in, with phone advice if you want to talk through which medium suits your work. You can also compare the lotion and the two creams side by side before you commit to a size.

What's in the box

  • 1 x Premax Massage Lotion, 1 litre pump bottle

Usage

Pump a small amount into your hands, warm it, and apply to the area you're working. The light consistency spreads thin and holds its glide, so start with less and top up for longer strokes rather than over-applying at the outset. Wipe down with a towel after the treatment and it wipes off clean. For external use on intact skin.

Care and storage

Keep the pump bottle closed at room temperature and out of direct sun. Check the period-after-opening and any date on the label, and replace the bottle once it is past.

Common questions

What is it? A light, unscented massage lotion in a 1 litre pump, the lightest medium in the Premax range.

What's in it? Key ingredients include sweet almond oil, shea butter, glycerin and water, and it's unscented. Check the bottle for the full ingredient list.

Cream or lotion, what's the difference? The lotion is lighter and spreads further with more glide, which suits long, flowing strokes over a large area. The Premax creams give more resistance and grip for deep-tissue and sports work. Pick by the technique you use most.

Does it wash off? Yes. It wipes off with a towel and feels cleaner on the skin than a heavy oil.

Who's it for? Massage therapists, physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors, sports trainers and beauty therapists, or at home.

Compare it with the higher-grip options in the massage oils and creams range, and for setting up a treatment or recovery space, our recovery and rehab guide is a good starting point.
