Metsal is a topical warming rub you massage into a tight or aching muscle. It is the sort of thing a lot of players keep in the kit bag for after training or a heavy session. It comes in two sizes, a 125g for a personal kit and a 500g for a bench that goes through it.
This is Metsal Heat Rub Cream, a warming rub applied to the skin over the muscle you want to work into. You rub it into clean, dry skin the same way you would any topical muscle rub. Each pack contains a single container of Metsal cream in the size you choose.
Metsal is a therapeutic good, so how much to use, how often, where not to apply it, and who should not use it are all set out on the pack. Read the label and follow the directions before you use it, and if you are unsure whether it suits you, ask a pharmacist. For a fresh knock or a strain, cold in the first day or two is usually the call rather than heat, and our recovery guide walks through that decision.
Straptor is Australian owned and run, with the hot and cold range stocked next to the strapping tape and recovery gear a club goes through in a season. Orders dispatch nationally and the range is on the shelf at the East Bendigo walk-in, with phone advice if you are weighing up which option suits. Clubs kitting out for a season can order the tape and recovery range together and call the East Bendigo team to sort quantities and reorders.

Common questions
What is a heat rub for? It is a warming rub you massage into a tight or aching muscle. Metsal is a therapeutic good, so the pack label is the place to read what it is indicated for and how to use it.
What sizes does it come in? Two: a 125g and a 500g. The 125g suits a personal kit bag; the 500g suits a club bench that goes through more of it.
Does it feel greasy? For how the cream sits on skin or on clothing, the pack label is the place to check, since it carries the detail on texture and use.
Heat or cold for a fresh injury? For a new knock or strain, cold is usually the first call, not heat. Our recovery guide covers the cold-versus-heat decision, and a physiotherapist can advise on a specific injury.
For the wider cold and heat options, see the hot and cold therapy range. For guidance on managing a knock and what to reach for, our recovery and rehab page is the place to start.
