Squeeze it and it turns cold on the spot, with no ice, no freezer and no wait. That is what a single-use instant pack gives you on a sideline: it lives in the kit, and when someone comes off after a knock you squeeze the pack, give it a shake, and cold is on the sore spot straight away. Each one is used once, so when it is spent you reach for the next.
The pack comes in two sizes. The 80g pack suits smaller areas like a finger, wrist or hand, and the 240g pack suits larger joints like a knee, ankle or shoulder. There is nothing to prepare and nothing to keep cold, which is what makes it a kit-bag and glovebox item rather than something that lives in the freezer.
Whether cold or heat suits a particular knock, and how long to leave it on, depends on the injury and the stage it is at. Our recovery guide walks through that call. If the pain is sharp, or it is not settling, see a physiotherapist rather than working it out on your own.
Straptor is Australian owned and run, with the cold and hot range stocked next to the strapping tape and first aid gear a club goes through in a season. Orders dispatch nationally and the range is on the shelf at the East Bendigo walk-in, with phone advice if you are not sure which size suits. Clubs stocking a season's first aid kit can order what they need and call the East Bendigo team to sort quantities and reorders.

What's in the box
- 1 x instant ice pack (80g or 240g, per the size you choose)
Usage
Squeeze the pack firmly to activate it, then give it a shake so it cools, and hold it against the area you want to cool. Keep a barrier, such as a thin cloth, between the pack and bare skin, and follow current advice on how long to apply cold. Once the pack has warmed up it is spent, so put it in the bin and use a fresh one next time.
Care and storage
Store the packs flat at room temperature, away from direct heat and anything sharp that could pierce the outer wrap. Check the wrap is intact before you rely on one. There is no freezing or charging: they are ready whenever you need them.
Common questions
Is it reusable? No. It is a single-use pack. Once you have activated it and it warms up it is done, so keep a few spares in the kit.
How does it get cold without a freezer? You squeeze the pack to start it and give it a shake, and it turns cold on its own. Nothing needs to be frozen first.
Which size should I get? The 80g pack suits smaller areas like a finger, wrist or hand; the 240g pack suits larger joints like a knee, ankle or shoulder.
Cold only, or heat as well? These are made for cold application. For guidance on whether cold or heat suits your situation, see the recovery guide.
