This is the paediatric Pad-Pak for HeartSine samaritan PAD defibrillators, a single cartridge that holds both the electrode pads and the battery. One part, one expiry date to track, and one thing to swap when it runs down. The pink cartridge is the one you fit for a child under eight years old or under 25 kg.

The samaritan PAD runs on a single Pad-Pak cartridge rather than separate pads and a separate battery, so there's less to check and less to store. This paediatric version fits HeartSine samaritan PAD defibrillators, the same range the adult cartridge fits. You keep the pink paediatric cartridge on hand for a young child and the grey adult cartridge for everyone else.

Each paediatric Pad-Pak has a four-year shelf life from the date of manufacture and holds enough charge for 60 shocks or six hours of continuous monitoring. When the battery runs low, the samaritan PAD sounds an audible alert so you know to replace the cartridge before it's needed. The paediatric cartridge is set for a smaller patient, delivering a paediatric shock energy rather than the adult dose.

Straptor is Australian owned and run, with the paediatric cartridge stocked next to the AEDs, pads and batteries a club or workplace keeps current, and phone advice on hand if you're not sure which cartridge suits your unit. Because the cartridge contains a battery, it ships by road freight only. To match it against what you already run, see the AEDs and defibrillator consumables we carry.

What's in the box

  • One HeartSine samaritan paediatric Pad-Pak cartridge, electrode pads and battery combined

Usage

Fit the paediatric Pad-Pak into the samaritan PAD in place of the adult cartridge when the patient is a child under eight years old or under 25 kg. The cartridge clicks into the base of the unit, and the samaritan PAD then voice-prompts the rescuer through pad placement and the rest of the sequence. Keep the cartridge sealed until you fit it, and check the printed expiry date as part of your regular defibrillator check. Fit and use it per HeartSine's own instructions supplied with the samaritan PAD.

Care and storage

Store the sealed cartridge at room temperature and check the expiry date whenever you check the defibrillator. Replace it by the printed date, or sooner if the samaritan PAD signals a low battery. Because it contains a battery, dispose of a used or expired cartridge in line with local battery-disposal rules.

Common questions

Which defibrillators does it fit? The HeartSine samaritan PAD range. It does not fit other brands of AED. Check your unit is a HeartSine samaritan PAD before ordering.

When do I use the paediatric cartridge instead of the adult one? For a child under about eight years old or under 25 kg. The pink cartridge is the paediatric one; the grey cartridge is for adults and older children.

How long does it last? Four years from the date of manufacture, or 60 shocks and six hours of monitoring, whichever comes first. The unit alerts you when the battery is running low.

Do the pads and battery come separately? No. The Pad-Pak combines both in one cartridge, so there's a single part to fit and a single expiry date to track.

Not sure the paediatric Pad-Pak matches your defibrillator, or want the adult cartridge on hand as well? Read where an AED fits into a club's emergency kit for how the unit and its cartridges work together.
