Deep Heat Patches are self-adhesive warming patches you wear on a tight or aching muscle. Each patch is air-activated, so it starts to warm once it is out of the sealed wrapper and stuck to the skin. The warmth is odourless and the patch is thin enough to sit under a shirt without showing. Two patches come in a pack.

The patch warms by air activation. It is formulated with iron powder that reacts with air to give off steady heat, so there is nothing to plug in, microwave or reheat. The pack states each patch stays warm for up to eight hours, and because it uses odourless technology there is no medicated smell. It does not stain clothes, so you can wear one at work or at training without it being obvious.

Deep Heat is a topical heat product, so read the label and the directions before you use it, and ask a pharmacist if you are not sure whether it suits you. This page describes what the patch is and how it is worn; it does not make any pain-relief or injury claim, and anything about what the product treats sits on the label.

Straptor carries Deep Heat next to the cold packs, wraps and recovery gear a club or a runner goes through in a season, so you can sort the kit in one order. We are Australian owned and run, dispatch nationally, and the range is on the shelf at the East Bendigo walk-in with phone advice if you want a hand choosing between heat and cold.

Usage

Follow the directions on the pack. Take the patch out of its wrapper, peel the backing and press it onto clean, dry skin over the tight or aching muscle. The patch warms once it is exposed to air, so keep the wrapper sealed until you are ready.

Stick to the wear-time limit on the pack and take the patch off if the skin starts to feel too hot. Do not use it on broken skin, and do not wear it while you sleep. Check with a pharmacist before using one if you have reduced skin sensation, diabetes or circulation problems, or if you are not sure whether a heat patch suits you.

Care and storage

Store the sealed patches in a cool, dry place and keep the wrapper closed until you use one, since the patch begins to warm on contact with air. Each patch is single use once it has been activated.

Common questions

How does it warm up? By air activation. The iron powder inside reacts with air, so the patch starts to warm once you take it out of the sealed wrapper. There is nothing to plug in or heat.

Does it smell? No. It uses odourless technology, so there is no medicated scent.

Can I wear it under clothing? Yes. It is thin and does not stain clothes, so it sits under a shirt without showing.

How long does it stay warm? The pack states up to eight hours per patch. Check the label for the current directions.

What is it for? It is a warming patch you wear on a tight or aching muscle. For what the product is indicated for and any precautions, read the label and ask a pharmacist.

Deep Heat is a topical heat product made by Mentholatum. Straptor lists it here as a self-adhesive warming patch and makes no pain-relief or injury-treatment claim on this page. Read the product label and directions before use, and speak to a pharmacist about whether it suits you.
