The blunt nose on this Cramer cutter slides flat under a strip of strapping tape, so you can lift and cut it off without the blade catching the skin underneath. That's the difference on a Monday morning when a squad is peeling off Saturday's ankle jobs and nobody wants a nick.
The Shark uses a single blade concealed in a cartridge, so the cutting edge stays tucked inside the tool rather than out against the skin. Run the nose along the length of a taped joint and it cuts through rigid strapping tape, elastic adhesive bandage, kinesiology tape and bandages, so the tape lifts away in one pass. The moulded Valox resin body with fibreglass reinforcement and a rubberised grip is built for daily change-room use.
At 21cm (8.25 inches) it sits in a trainer's bag or a first aid kit without taking up a scissor's worth of room, and replacement blades are sold separately for when the edge dulls. It suits trainers, physios, clubs and anyone stripping tape off fast at the end of a game or a rehab session. Clubs can add a few to a tape order so every trainer's bag carries one, and reorder blades as they wear down.
Straptor is Australian owned and run, and stocks the Shark right next to the rigid strapping tape it's built to take off and the rest of the strapping accessories a trainer's bag runs on, so you buy the cutter and the tape it removes in the one order. If you're not sure the Shark is the right cutter for your kit, or which blade to reorder, call and ask the people who strap and strip tape every week.

What's in the box
- One Cramer Shark tape cutter with a blade fitted (replacement blades sold separately)
Usage
Slide the blunt nose flat against the skin, under the edge of the tape. Draw the cutter along the length of the taped joint and the concealed blade cuts the tape as it goes, so it lifts away in one piece. Replace the blade when it stops cutting cleanly.
Care and storage
Wipe the body down after use and keep the cartridge dry. Swap the blade when the edge dulls rather than forcing a blunt one. Store it in the kit away from small children, since there is a blade inside.
Common questions
Will it cut the skin? The nose is blunt and the blade sits concealed in a cartridge, so it's designed to run against the skin and cut only the tape. Keep the nose flat and move steadily for the cleanest result.
What tape does it cut? Rigid strapping tape, elastic adhesive bandage, kinesiology tape and general bandages. It's a removal tool, not for cutting fresh strips to length.
Can you replace the blade? Yes. Replacement blades are sold separately, so swap the cartridge when the edge dulls rather than working with a blunt blade.
Cramer is the stocked brand. Straptor is Australian owned and run. This is a tape-removal tool, not a therapeutic product, and no injury-treatment claim is made.
