A scoop stretcher lifts an injured or collapsed person off the ground without rolling them onto a board. This one splits lengthways into two halves that slide under the casualty from either side, then lock back together so the person can be raised and carried on the spot. It is a piece of kit for trained first-aiders and emergency responders, not a general-purpose carry.
The split design is the whole point. Rather than log-rolling someone to work a flat board underneath, you separate the two halves, lay one down each side, and bring them together under the person before you lift. The extendable headrest adjusts to suit a person from 170cm to 190cm, and three straps are included to hold the casualty in place before the lift.
Folded down to 172cm x 43cm x 6cm, the stretcher stores flat against a wall or in the back of a vehicle and opens out when it is needed. It is built light enough for two responders to handle, with a working load up to 160kg.
It suits club first-aid rooms, event medical teams, workplaces and anyone who keeps rescue equipment ready for an emergency. Correct use matters: a scoop stretcher is for people trained to move a casualty, so follow your own first-aid training and the manufacturer's instructions.
