On a footy sideline or a physio bench, rigid tape is the strapping that holds a joint firm when it matters. It's a non-stretch zinc oxide tape on a cotton backing, with a serrated edge that tears clean by hand, so you set the tension and move to the next ankle without reaching for scissors.

Which width for the job

Straptor rigid strapping tape runs in 13mm, 25mm, 38mm and 50mm on a 13.7 metre roll. The 13mm and 25mm suit fingers, thumbs and small joints with tight contours. The 38mm is the general-purpose ankle and wrist width most trainers keep in the bag, and the 50mm covers the knee and shoulder. Buy single rolls to try a width, or by the carton for a season.

Where rigid tape fits in the kit

Rigid tape does the locking work and the rest of the bag backs it up. Pre-wrap goes down first to protect the skin, and elastic tape suits the jobs where a joint needs to move rather than stay put. For when to choose firm tape over stretch, see our strapping tape range, and compare our kinesiology tape for the softer approach. The underwrap and cohesive that finish a strap sit in strapping accessories.

Straptor is Australian-owned and built for grassroots club sport, with the club discount for teams and national delivery, plus walk-in at our East Bendigo store.
